How to clean a straw hat and precautions for cleaning?

2023-08-10

一.Can straw hats be washed with water?

Firstly, you need to determine whether the material of your straw hat can be cleaned. Some straw hats are made of fragile materials and even cannot withstand hand washing. However, most straw hats can still be washed, but they must be washed by hand.

If you are unsure whether the material of the straw hat is suitable for washing, you can gently break one corner of the hat down. If it doesn't move too much, or if it slowly recovers its shape after breaking, then the toughness of the hat is still acceptable; If it is easily bent or even damaged, it indicates that this material is very fragile and should not be washed.

二、 How to clean a straw hat

1. To clean the straw hat, first prepare the hat type (if no foam plastic cylinder is available, replace it), then put the straw hat on the hat type, dip 2 parts of sodium thiosulfate, 2 parts of denatured alcohol, 1 part of glycerol and 20 parts of water with a sponge or brush, mix and mix them to form a cleaning solution, evenly coat the straw hat, wet the straw hat, and gently wipe it.

2. After wiping, leave the straw hat overnight, and then mix 1 part citric acid, 4 parts denatured alcohol, and 30 parts water to make a straw hat coating solution. Wet the straw hat and iron it flat with a less hot iron.

3.If you want the straw hat to be white and beautiful, you can use hydrogen peroxide and a few drops of ammonia to wet the straw hat and bleach it.

三、 Precautions for cleaning straw hats

1. If there are decorations on the hat, they should be removed first.

2. To clean the hat, soak it in water and a neutral detergent.

3. Gently brush with a soft brush.

4.Brush and wash the inner sweat band (in contact with the head band) several times to thoroughly remove sweat stains and bacteria. Of course, if you choose antibacterial and deodorant materials, this step can be avoided.

5. Fold the hat into four pieces and gently shake off the water. Do not use a washing machine to dehydrate.

6. Spread out the hat, stuff it with an old towel, lay it flat to dry, and avoid hanging it to dry.
